Details
Clown loaches have retractable spines on the snout that can cause a painful sting with large fish if the circumstance would ever arise. They will scavenge a variety of foods but prefer worms and sinking pellets. They also love snails. Breeding is generally not possible in aquaria.
These fish are also very susceptible to ich and the medications used to treat the disease because they don't have proper fish scales. This means that caution must be taken when placing this fish into an established home aquarium. A seperate hospital tank is an excellent way to keep this fish seperate until they are strong enough to add to an established tank.

Fast

The Clown Loach are very very fast swimmers. Must have 55+ gal tank. They love to hide until feeding time. When they are stressed the color goes pale. When they are content, they have bold colors.
Be careful

These guys live a LONG time. Our "babies" are seven years old and have survived one move to a new house. If your tank is less than fifve years old you haven't committed yet. They will outlive your dog/cat if you care for them. Friendly and can be hand fed if you spend the time and love them to no end. Freindly to most tankmates. Will eat ghost shrimp and snails. 3 stars only because of commitment.
Great fish - be wary of the longevity and size

Clown loaches have amazing personality and just as beautiful as marine fishes. Keeping them in right condition will bring out the playfulness of this fish and their strange behavior. They can also be hand feed. Before you get this fish please be aware that they can get to over a foot long and they're also a schooling fish which mean you need to keep them in group for them to be happy. 6 is the minimum group size for a 75 gallon tank. height doesn't matter much but tank should be long a wide.
If you can't keep them for as long as you live for any reason or if this is not your life-long hobby. Please don't bother with the fish because you will end up giving it away or worse stunt/kill/torture/or just stop taking care of it.
Other than that, clown loaches are superb fish.

We have had 2 clown loaches in our 75 gallon tank for over 10 years. Well I should had 2. We just had one go to fishy heaven this evening after 12 years as a member of our family and his fish home in our house. Mr. Loach will be missed!
