Details
Clown loaches have retractable spines on the snout that can cause a painful sting with large fish if the circumstance would ever arise. They will scavenge a variety of foods but prefer worms and sinking pellets. They also love snails. Breeding is generally not possible in aquaria.
These fish are also very susceptible to ich and the medications used to treat the disease because they don't have proper fish scales. This means that caution must be taken when placing this fish into an established home aquarium. A seperate hospital tank is an excellent way to keep this fish seperate until they are strong enough to add to an established tank.

Old farts
by Doug & Dawn
These guys live a LONG time. Our "babies" are seven years old and have survived one move to a new house. If your tank is less than fifve years old you haven't committed yet. They will outlive your dog/cat if you care for them. Friendly and can be hand fed if you spend the time and love them to no end. Freindly to most tankmates. Will eat ghost shrimp and snails. 3 stars only because of commitment.
True Clowns in the Tank!

We really enjoy our Clown Loaches and they do live up to their name. Very entertaining and as long as they're well fed they don't bother tankmates. I had a couple of small cories disappear and suspect they were dinner. But they really aren't aggressive for the most part. They will take food from slower eaters, so make sure all the fish are getting enough to eat. Mine are in a tank with large Discus and I've had no problems.
REALLY old clowns

They really live a long time. We have had ours 19 years on Oct. 23. They also moved with us 10 years ago and fared very well. They have a 55 gallon to themselves and have been raised on Hikari sinking wafers and love them! They are very large fish when they reach this age We joke that we may have to leave them to someone in our will!.
Favorite fish in the tank

We have had our Clown Loaches for over 8 years and they continue to be the source of comments from friends. They live well with our Denison's Barbs and Angels. For me they have been very hardy surviving numerous lapses in water changes.
Can't go wrong with this fish
