Details
The Red Bay Snook inhabits river areas full of red lily plants which allow the fish to blend seamlessly amongst their foliage. This fish gets quite large, up to 16 inches, and occurs in both a green and a red form in nature. The green form is more common, olive to gold-green with small dark specks. The uncommon red form may be pale orange to deep orange-red, with mature males often showing a deep red head.
This fish is aggressive with its own kind, but it should be fairly well-behaved with other robust fish of similar temperament. Any fish that can't fit in its mouth should be fine.
This fish does well on a varied diet of high-quality flake food, pellets, and occasional meaty frozen foods. A large tank with rock work, some hardy plants, and plenty of swimming room is best for this large fish.
