The AquaClear 110 aquarium filter provides biological, chemical and mechanical filtration and was designed for easy use and maintenance. AquaClear Filter media is contained in a convenient filter media basket to hold your filter media in place and make it easy to replace when the time comes. The foam filter insert provides a large surface area for debris and waste retention and beneficial bacterial colonization. AquaClear filters include media cartridges to get you started. AquaClear insert may be rinsed and reused, or replaced when necessary. Pre-measured Activated Carbon AquaClear Inserts eliminate hassle: just rinse and drop in. The premium research quality carbon removes organic compounds and odors.

best 9/19/2012 Reviewer: Lyle Alzado Jr. this is the best filter you can buy. if you use the carbon and then replace it with chemi-pure or bio chem zorb...you don't have to replace anything in the filter for 4-6 months. just rinse the sponge off and never change the bio media. no monthly cartridge changes.
Aquaclear filters 7/21/2012 Reviewer: Charles I have been in the aquarium hobby for over 20 years and will tell anyone that you cannot go wrong with an Aquaclear filter. They are rock solid and will quit running only when the electricty goes out! Just do the normal maintenance/cleaning and these filters will run for years!

Best HOB filter there is 6/23/2012 Reviewer: Jenn B I have had this filter for the past 17 years. 3 of which I have had for 10 years. As long as you take care of them, they last. Do NOT use sand with this filter. It will ruin the motor. I started out with one for my first tank, a 10g, then had 2 on a 55g as I love filtration and seeing the stronger current. I currently have a 12 yr old aquaclear 110 on my 20g tank! It is easy to access, easy to maintain, and provides awesome surface agitation. Noisy? Yes if you don't balance the bottom of the filter right, altho it comes with the attachment. Also as it produces a "waterfall" effect, it will be noisy hearing the water. Clean out the propellor every 6 months or so taking care not to damage the center stick as off balance or a crack in the propellor or stick will cause a very loud noise. We had this happen to use recently as we couldn't figure out the noise for a long time in the other aquaclear 110 we had. Couldn't fix the part as we would've had to replace the entire motor. Overall, best value for the money. They last, they work, and very easy to maintain.
Great Value 6/16/2012 Reviewer: Michael Ballow I have this filter on my 150 gallon aquarium with 3 oscars. It does a superb job filtering, so long as you keep the large sponge filter cleaned out (I flush with tap water every 2 weeks) You add some bio bags on top and my tank stays well balanced. I don't notice any loud noise.. Compared to the biggest filter system I purchased at WalMart for $40 dollars, this filter is 110% better. I wish I had another one!
