The API FilStar XP M canister filter is an extremely powerful aquarium filter for freshwater or marine aquariums. The FilStar XP M provides complete filtration on tanks up to 75 gallons using no-bypass construction and a flow rate of up to 300 gph. The XP M filter is easy to set up, maintain and clean.
FilStar XP filters feature an easy-to-operate anti-airlock system to allow self-priming, uninterrupted operation. The API FilStar Canister filters also feature flow control, an adjustable inlet, and a single lever control quick disconnect for easy maintenance. The FilStar XP M has two multi-use media baskets for biological and chemical filtration media, and has a handle to make media changes quick and easy. This multi-stage filter has bypass-free circulation which guarantees that all water flows through the filter media and not around it, ensuring a cleaner aquarium. The FilStar filter system also has a unique sediment collection chamber for removal of wastes. The chamber improves filter efficiency and reduces clogging.
The filter's large rubber base suppresses vibration and noise, providing quiet operation.

Great Filter 3/6/2013 Reviewer: Mike G I have been an aquarist since the early 1970's. I like this filter as well as any I have tried. I have 58 gallon tank with 4 adult discus in it. I have used this filter on it for almost 7 years now and it has performed magnificently. I did need to replace the cover gasket after afew years, as well as the impeller assembly, but they lasted over 4 years each and the replacements still work great.
Not bad - but strange fractures appear 11/28/2012 Reviewer: Abe Lincoln I used this filter for about a score on a 55 gallon freshwater aquarium and it did great - crystal clear water when the media was applied and changed regularly. Unfortunately, one day it developed a strange fracture in the canister itself, and I couldn't track down a replacement.
