PLEASE NOTE: At That Fish Place, our goal is to offer exceptional selection to all our customers. All the rare and exotic species you see on our website are also available to our in-store customers (excluding "Your Choice" items). Despite frequent updates, our website does not always reflect our available inventory. In the event that an item on an order is not available on the day of shipment, or a quantity of an item is greater than our available inventory, a member of our livestock team will attempt to personally contact you. If we are unable to contact you, or we have not gotten a response by 4:00 p.m. EST on the day of shipment, we will remove the unavailable items from your order and ship as scheduled. We do not backorder out-of-stock livestock.
In cases where a significant percentage of an order is unavailable at the scheduled shipment date, we will hold the order until we have contacted the customer. This may cause some delays in expected ship dates if the customer cannot be reached. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We feel this policy is the best way to ensure that our customers receive exactly what they are expecting. GENERAL INFORMATION
That Fish Place utilizes only the most effective packing and shipping techniques developed and approved by our on-staff marine biologists to ensure that your aquatic pet arrives to you in exactly the same condition as when it left our facility. Because we use some techniques that might be unfamiliar to you, the following information will help answer some questions that might arise:
During cold weather we use heat packs to keep your animals warm inside their bags. The heat packs are white and look like small pillows. We wrap them in newspaper and tape them inside the lid of your shipping container. These heat packs are non-toxic, but should be promptly disposed of and kept away from children. Do not be alarmed if they feel cold to the touch when you open the box-they have already served their purpose and dispensed their warmth during shipping.
As marine biologists we take great care in our livestock. Severe or extreme weather may affect fish health during shipping. Therefore we may delay shipping of orders if weather conditions threaten to compromise the livestock.
During warm weather we put ice packs inside the boxes to keep the animals cool. If you find one or more small bags containing water and nothing else you are looking at a melted ice pack. Simply dispose of the bag.
We always attach a copy of your invoice/packing list inside the box.
Many species of anemones will be shipped without water. This is done on purpose and has proven to be the best way to ship these animals. Don't worry-your anemone may look strange when you receive it, but will recover very rapidly once placed in your aquarium.
Some starfish and urchins can lose appendages due to shipping stress. This does not mean that they are dead or dying. The lost appendages will be replaced/regrown by the animal.
Many polyps, clams, and corals can appear lifeless for a few days after they arrive at their destination. Do not throw these animals away. Given proper lighting, nutrition, and water quality you will be amazed to see them opening and regaining their full color and vigor.
Many soft corals will arrive with mucus or discoloration in their bags. This is a normal process and occurs during growth or from shipping stress. Just remove the coral from the mucus and place it in your aquarium. If this phenomenon occurs again in your tank simply net out the mucus. Once the coral acclimates the secretion will stop.
Remember, even if your fish or coral appears to be lifeless upon arrival you MUST acclimate it according to the That Fish Place Acclimation Procedures.
Meet or Beat policy does not apply to livestock.
All livestock orders are shipped directly from our state-of-the-art Fish Room located in our Lancaster, Pennsylvania retail store. This livestock is also made available to our in-store customers and as a result, our inventory is constantly changing. While we make every effort to keep our website as up-to-date as possible, retail store sales and unforeseen circumstances may change actual availability of any item. In the event that an item on your order is no longer available, you will be contacted by a member of our livestock team before your order is shipped to determine a replacement or refund for the item. We invite you to call our livestock department Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST, at 1-877-367-4377 to confirm availability on your items.
