The Melon Sword has green broad leaves when they extend from the root base. The younger center leaves actually have a reddish tint to them and only turn green as the plant matures. They are generally more difficult then other swords to keep healthy and flourishing and need the correct water conditions to be kept for a long time. They need to be kept in neutral to slightly acidic water with high intensity lighting. An additional plant supplement such as iron is also recommended to keep these plants looking their best. As they mature they can reach heights on average between 9-18 inches.
