The large capacity of these wet dry filters circulate 1000s of gallons per hour to consistently remove debris and impurities, leaving your aquarium water crystal clear and your tank healthy. Rapids Pro wet dry filters include skimmer overflows to remove dissolved organics and waste from the water's surface. They have an automatic filter start to prevent flooding and backwash in the event of power loss and a multi-directional return nozzle to keep waste materials in the water column where they can be removed. The Rapids water pump that runs these filters is specially engineered to produce a high flow rate without excess heat or noise. A countercurrent protein skimmer with a wood airstone is built right into the filters to remove waste materials before they can turn into toxic ammonia or nitrite compounds. The Rapids Pro series have the power and versatility desired by professional aquarists in a simple and compact package that all aquarists will love.

About the Tom's Rapids Pro wet/dry system |
|
Main overview:
The Rapids Pro wet/dry filter allows for excellent removal of waste material utilizing a pump capable of circulating the aquarium water at approximately 1000 gallons per hour. The Rapids Pro wet/dry filter, a three stage filtration system, allows for superb clarity and cleanliness of water for all of the tank inhabitants.
Surface Skimming Technology: The Rapids Pro system by Tom's Aquarium comes complete with a surface skimmer which ensures surface contaminants are removed from aquarium water. Most organic wastes are found accumulating on the surface of aquariums, and proper surface skimming exercises the ultimate removal of these nuisance wastes.
Protein Skimmer: With “counter-current” operation and a limewood airstone, this skimmer consistently generates fine bubbles that see maximum contact with organic wastes in the water. Water is forced against rising bubbles and bonds with waste while rising toward the collection chamber. Removal of dissolved organics is paramount in aquarium hygiene. Without a protein skimmer, wastes proceed to break down, producing toxic levels of ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.
Water Pump: Rated at 1000 gallons per hour, this return pump delivers an excellent rate of flow with very little noise and low heat emission.

Aqua Lifter Pump: The Rapids Pro wet/dry system also comes with the Aqua Lifter vacuum pump, designed to start the siphoning of water through the overflow box at installation or after power loss.
Stellar Plus: No protein skimmer is complete without a source of air. The Stellar Plus Air Pump D100 comes with strong, long-lasting diaphragms and complimenting silicone flappers, providing ease of use. The Stellar Plus is the protein skimmer's wingman, producing an infinite source of air.
Auto “Stop/Start” Feature: In the event of an electric power loss, the Rapids Pro filter features an automatic “stop and start” mechanism which prevents flooding by maintaining water and keeping it from draining back into the main filtration chamber at the time the power shuts off.
Filtration Media: Includes large capacity baskets with mechanical filtration pads (top), activated carbon for chemical filtration (middle), and *sintered glass biological media (bottom).
**Auto-Fill System: The Auto-Fill System (AFS) is durably constructed and designed to return up to four gallons of water to your aquarium (depleted from evaporation) through the Rapids Pro wet/dry system.
Notes:
* Sintered glass has a much larger surface area than ceramic or “bio-ball” styles of biological filtration media.
** The Auto-Fill System is purchased separately (for use with PS3) or is included with PS4. |
