This aquarium substrate has fairly uniform 0.25 to 0.5 mm spherical or egg-shaped grains for reef and marine aquaria. The grains are aragonite, a naturally occuring calcium carbonate material made in the shells of many marine organisms. It has a superior buffering capacity to keep pH stable in a range suitable for most marine aquariums.
