Assembling and mounting feeder:
Line up the square hole in the base of the tube with the tabs on the tray. Push tray and tube together until they lock.
Soak suction cups with hooks in hot water (not boiling) for 3-5 minutes.
Remove suction cups from water and dry throughly with a lint free towel.
Clean outside of window, where the feeder will be mounted with any ammonia based window cleaner.
Rub face of suction cup with your thumb 15-20 circular strokes to ensure proper adhesion.
Punch out the 2 points that are shown on the instruction sheet with a pencil point. Line up the points on your window where you want the feeder and make a small mark on the window at each point with a felt tip marker. Center each suction cup over the mark with the hook facing up and press each suction down into place. Make sure all the air is removed from under the suction cup.
Fill feeder with desired seed and place cover over the tube. For most common backyard birds it is recommended Oily Sunflower as the seed of choice followed by Striped Sunflower, Safflower or a premium wild bird seed mix.
Slip the feeder onto the hooks.
Hint:
For best results, try and place the feeder on a window with a southern or western exposure.
Removing the suction cups:
Simply slip your fingernail, a postcard or any thin cardboard between the window and the suction cups. This breaks the suction and releases the feeder.
Cleaning your feeder:
For best results, clean the feeder at least once a month. You may wish to check the seed for dampness more often especially after a hard rain. Water can sour the seed and promote mold growth.
To clean the feeder, remove the seed saver tray by squeezing the 2 extended tabs together on the under side of the tray. Squeezing the tabs together will release the tray and allow it to be removed from the tube for cleaning. With the tray removed, clean the feeder with a mild soap and rinse. Avoid abrasive cleaners, they will scratch the plastic parts. Caked damp seed can be removed with a dull pointed dowel. Make sure the feeder is throughly dry before refilling.
