Aponogeton boivinianus
Boivinianus is a difficult plant to keep and is not for beginning aquarists. The plant is dark green in color with large, wide leaves which emerge from a large bulb. It is best for larger aquariums kept at cooler temperatures. This plant grows to an average height of about 24 inches. Like many Aponogeton sp., boivinianus will eventually lose its foliage and retreat into dormancy. In good conditions, the bulb should store enough energy to re-sprout after several weeks to begin the growth cycle again.
