Aponogeton madagascarensis "Madagascar Lace"
Madagascar Lace is a bulb plant. It has long, delicate, net-like leaves. Madagascar requires specific water conditions and is often difficult to establish. When established it may flower at water surface, producing a rich scent. It cannot tolerate high temperatures, and will quickly deteriorate if exposed. A background plant, it grows to an average height of 20 inches. Like many Aponogeton sp., madagascariensis will eventually lose its foliage and retreat into dormancy. In good conditions, the bulb should store enough energy to re-sprout after several weeks to begin the growth cycle again.
