Barbonymus schwanenfeldii "Tinfoil Barb" - Small
The Tinfoil Barb is a silver fish with red fins and tail. Though they are capable of growing up to 16 inches, they rarely exceed 12 inches in the aquarium. Due to their large size and schooling nature, these fish should be kept in a tank that is at least 75 to 100 gallons, preferably larger.
Tinfoil Barbs are generally peaceful with larger fish but can become nippy and semi-aggressive and should not be kept with small fish like tetras. They can be kept with most large community fish like some cichlids, large gouramis, headstanders, and other similar.
These fish require a lot of vegetables in their diet, and will sometimes eat aquarium plants to satisfy this nutritional need. Feed peas, lima beans, spirulina flake, as well as other pellets, and some frozen items.
