Antennarius sp. "Patterned Angler" - XLarge
Colored Anglers are typically Antennarius sp., but due to the variability of color and shape, species is often difficult to determine. Color and markings vary by individual from yellows and greens to oranges, purples and reds. These fish have a small moveable apparatus on their head that is used to try to lure prey. They are ambush predators that will often hide in the rock work until a small fish comes by.
They may not take frozen food right away and may have to be fed live foods until they become comfortable. Great care should be taken in making sure the water quality is pristine as fluctuations in water conditions will effect this type of fish more than others.
Please note: The coloration of Colored Anglers varies greatly and the angler pictured above is a representative only. For more information on the anglers currently available, please contact the Livestock Department.
