Coco Worms are Feather Duster Worms that create rigid, calcareous tubes to protect their soft body and crown. Most tubeworms collect sediments in thier slime coat to create a leathery sheath. The crowns of the Coco Worm are dark red and white with a spiral shape. They are about an inch in diameter. These worms are filter feeders, extenting their feathery crowns to catch floating food particles. When threatened, the crowns retract into the tube. The crowns may periodically be shed and the worm will grow them new, like a motled feather.
