Pseudotropheus demasoni "Pombo Rocks" - Large
Pseudotropheus demasoni is a colorful mbuna, or rockdwelling cichlid. Both females and males are bright blue in color with dark bars. They are considered dwarf pseudos and they only reach about 4 inches.
Pseudotropheus can be rather aggressive and should only be kept with other Mbuna and Malawi fish that can take their rowdy behavior. Try to keep one male per 2-3 females, as males are particularly aggressive towards each other.
Be sure to feed Pseudotropheus a diet rich in greens and vegetable matter. They are herbivores in nature, scraping algae from wood and rock, and cannot handle too much protein in their diet. Typical Malawi decor, lots of rocks and caves should be provided for cover and to establish territory.
