Siganus punctatus "Goldspotted Rabbitfish" - Large
The Goldspotted Rabbitfish is one of the most striking rabbitfish species. They have silver bodies that are covered with small orange spots. The dark blotch behind the gill and the orange dots around the iris differentiate this fish from the similar Siganus guttatus.
Rabbitfish have venomous dorsal and anal spines for protection. They are generally peaceful toward other fish but may be aggressive toward other Rabbitfish. Rabbitfish are timid by nature and will frighten easily, often taking on a mottled brown coloration.
They are reef safe with caution as they may nibble on coral polyps if they are not kept well fed. Rabbitfish do best on a diet consisting of live foods, frozen meaty foods, and plenty of greenstuff. They should also have plenty of algae to graze on in between feedings.
