Overview Specifications Instructions
The filter should be installed, not more than 6' above pond water level on a level surface such as: very firm ground or equivalent. Position the filter so that the piping connections, unions, control valve and winter drain are convenient and accessible for operation, service and winterizing (if needed).

Directions for installation: connect pump to control valve opening marked pump. After connections are made, tighten valve flange clamp with screwdriver, tapping around clamp with screwdriver handle to help seat valve flange clamp. Then make return to pond pipe connection to control valve opening marked RETURN.

Initial start-up of filter: depress control valve handle and rotate to filter position (to prevent damage to control valve seal, always depress handle before turning). Start pump. Once water flow is steady, check for leaks.

NOTE: during initial clean up of pond water, it may be necessary to backwash frequently due to unusually heavy initial dirt load in the water. Do NOT place filter onto a heavy algae pond (pea soup). It is recommended to do a water change if the pond is really dirty.

IMPORTANT: to prevent damage to the pump and filter, always shut off pump before switching filter valve.
WINTERIZING: completely drain tank by unscrewing drain cap at base of filter tank. Leave cap off during winter. Depress valve handle and rotate to set pointer on valve top between any 2 positions. This will allow the water to drain from the valve. Leave valve in this position.

Start-up after winter, take top off, stir up media, put top back on, put valve into backwash position and turn pump on. Backwash then rinse.

BACKWASHING: depress valve knob, rotate lever to backwash until sight glass is clear about 1/2 to 1 minute. Depress knob and turn to rinse, until sight glass is clear. Depress valve and turn back to filter.
It is recommended cleaning once a week on light loads and twice a week or more on heavy loads.

VALVE SETTINGS:
FILTER: for normal filtration of ponds.
BACKWASH: for reversing flow for cleaning filter, operates jets.
RINSE: for cleaning, plus resetting filter bed after backwashing.
WASTE: for lowering pond level/draining.
RE-CIRCULATE: for by-passing filter, but circulating water in pond.
CLOSED: shuts off flow from pump.
