The ThatPetPlace.com search offers two different types of searches: Simple Search and Advanced Search

• Simple Search provides you with a keyword search for products.   It is conveniently located at the top right of every page. You can search all products or limit your search to a selected product category.  The search looks for a match with product name, stock number, product description, manufacturer product number and manufacturer name.
  
  
• The Simple Search makes use of a thesaurus that is intended to link similar words.  An example might be "seat" or "seating" to find chairs.
  
  
• When the search finishes, either the Search Results page opens with a list of any products that match your keyword and, if selected, product category or, if the search criteria was too broad, a list of categories to choose from.to narrow the search.
  
  
• If you do not find what you are looking for, you can adjust your search criteria by removing the selected category (the system automatically repeats the search) or by switching to the Advanced Search.

1. Enter the stock number, manufacturer name, manufacturer product number or any part of the product description in the keyword field provided (Fig. 1).

2. Select a product category from the drop-down list, unless you want the search to include all products.

3. Click on the button.  The Search Results page opens in one of two formats, depending on how broad your search is: a list of categories to select from or a list of products.

4. If the search criteria was too broad, the page will ask you to "Please select a Category to find your item in."  Click on the appropriate Category on the list.  This process may repeat to narrow the search to a sub-category, before the Product Sub-Category page opens with a list of products.
   
   

5. On the Search Results page format that lists products (Fig. 2), you can:
   
   

   1. Click on the product name under Product Details to see more information about the product.
      
      
   2. Click on the button to add the product to your shopping cart.
      
      
   3. Scroll to a page by clicking on a page number link or the forward or backward arrow. As an alternative, click the button to list all the results on one page.
      
      
   4. Narrow the search results within your original search criteria by any or all of the following and clicking the button:
   • Filtering by category - click on one of the listed categories to select it
   • Filtering by price - click on one of the price ranges to select it
   • Filtering by keyword - type in a keyword and, optionally, click on the Include Product Decriptions checkbox to check it
     
     
   5. Compare listed products by checking each item to include inthe Compare column, then clicking on the Compare Selected Items link, which opens the Product Comparison page displaying the comparative specifications for the selected items side by side.
      
      
   6. Click on the Advanced Search link to open the Advanced Search page.

• Advanced Search is intended to provide additional search parameters that can be used to provide more accurate results. It is available by clicking on Advanced Search on the menu across the top of any page.  Advanced Search is also available from the Search Results page.

• Advanced Search searches through the products using your search criteria to limit the list it returns.  In addition to the Keyword input box, Advanced Search includes input boxes or drop down selection lists for Category, Price Range (from...to...), Manufacturer, Stock Number and Manufacture Part Number.

• When the search finishes, the Search Results page opens with a list of any products that matched your search criteria.  If you do not find what you are looking for, you can adjust your search criteria by returning to the Advanced Search page, removing delimiters and clicking the button.

1. Click on the Advanced Search link next to the search fields in the upper right part of any page or click on the Add Search Criteria link on the Search Results page.  The Advanced Search page opens (Fig. 3).

2. Enter any combination of Keyword(s), (product) Category, Price Range, Manufacturer (name), Stock Number or Manufacturer Part Number in the fields provided.

3. Click the button.  The Search Results page opens (see above).

1. Check your spelling.

2. Try using a similar term; "HD" instead of "Heavy Duty".

3. Avoid plurals.

4. Use partial words or word roots instead of the whole word; "record" instead of "recordable."

5. Browse by product category on the Left Navigation menu.

6. If you are unable to locate a product, but you are certain you spelled it properly, try using only part of the name (e.g. "Pump instead of Water Pump").
