Vampire Shrimp - Atya gabonensis
Vampire Shrimp are large and interesting inverts for community tropical aquariums. Hailing from Africa, these shrimp can reach lengths of about 4 inches and have spiny legs for scavenging and specialized fans which allow them to filter feed. They prefer a well oxygenated tank with plenty of cover and substrate. They are avid omnivores, feeding on algae, detritus, and a variety of commercial foods.
