Chromodoris willani is one of several very similar nudibranchs that have a light blue base color, dark blue stripes and often a white trim. On C. willani, the color of the gills and rhinophores (the "antennae") may vary for white to yellowish or orange but are always dusted by white speckles.

The term "nudibranch" means "naked gill" and refers to the fringy, tassel-like gills visible on many species. This group include animals that we commonly refer to as "sea slugs" as well as the sea hares popular for algae control. As a group, there is not much known about many species of nudibranch and more are being discovered and reclassified continuously. While some like the sea hares are well studied and we know enough about their lif cycles and diets for them to be maintained, the diet and requirements of most nudibranchs is largely unknown. Most are thought to feed on sponges, polyps, tunicates. Some of the most colorful nudibranchs are actively collected and sold for aquariums but many more come as "hitchhikers" on rock and corals, for better or for worse.

Use caution when placing any nudibranch in your reef system if its diet is an unknown. Nudibranchs in aquariums are generally shortlived, both due to their natural short lifespans as well as the difficulty of meeting their dietary requirements.

Oh my gosh, this creature is killing me! Just two days after it shipped to my doorstep, it escaped my thousand-dollar tank! I found it gnawing all the hair off of my cat's tail, and now it's tail fell off! Then my 5 y/o woke up screaming when the sea demon chewed a gaping hole in his ear! Now we can't find it! we've called animal control on it! This demon is chewing away my soul!

This is a terrible thing to sell! Just three days after mine was shipped to me. it escaped it's enclosure and traumatized my cat by eating off it's tail! Then my son woke up in the middle of the night with the sea demon on his face! His ear now has a hole in it! Don't buy this product!
