Details
The Twin Spot Signal Goby (Signigobius biocellatus) gets part of its name from the two black spots on it's double dorsal fin. The rest of the body is white with tan, blotchy markings. The ventral and anal fins are black with blue spots.
This is the only fish in its genus but is related to other sandsifting gobies like those from genus Valenciennea. They will pick up mouthfuls of substrate and sift through it for food items, expelling the substrate through their gill openings. The substrate should be small and smooth to avoid damaging their gills. This fish grows to a small adult size and can be very delicate.
Gobies are generally peaceful bottom-dwelling fish. Some gobies get territorial and will defend "their area" of the tank against other fish; these gobies should not be kept with others of the same or a similar species.
Most gobies are not picky eaters. They can be fed a variety of small meaty foods like brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, Cyclopeeze, planktons and similar items. They will also eat some plant matter like a variety of algae and can be given these as a supplement. Some may eventually accept flake and pellet foods.
