The Giant Whiptail Catfish is a unique South American algae eater. It's dark brown on light brown coloration and flattened body camouflages it perfectly to driftwood. Native to strong river currents in Central and South America, this fish can grow to 7.5 inches.

The Sturisoma's diet should include various vegetation, algae wafers and cucumbers or zucchinis are appreciated. They will also require meaty treats like bloodworms or brine shrimp. These fish are retiring, and are most active at night, their home tank should be well planted-live or artificial-with lots of driftwood.
