Details
The Sharpnose Possum Wrasse will only attain a size of 3 inches in length and is great for small aquariums or reef setups. They are dull red or brown in coloration with a yellow band directly behind the eye and one around the base of the tail. Possum Wrasses also have three small black dots surrounded with a blue ring which are located on the dorsal fin, the anal fin and the pelvic fins.
They are a very secretive species that will hide out in caves or under rocks being very cautious to venture out. The diet of this wrasse is small benthic invertebrates in the wild. In the home aquarium they will gladly eat meaty frozen food such as brine shrimp or plankton. A diet consisting of prepared food such as pellet food or flake food is also recommended in addition to the frozen food.
When choosing tankmates remember its timid nature and do not choose fish that will constantly cause the wrasse to hide such as large predatory fish or other hyperactive wrasses.
