Aqua Clear 50 Power Head
Details
The Aqua Clear 402 Powerhead delivers outstanding performance in a variety of applications for fresh or saltwater aquariums. It can efficiently drive undergravel filters, circulate and aerate aquarium water, and attach to filtration accessories such as the Hagen Quick Filter for added mechanical filtration or to drive a protein skimmer. It can also be easily hidden and still provide highly beneficial currents to raise oxygen levels.
The Aqua Clear 402 Powerhead has an option for reverse flow operation. In the reverse flow setting, the water is drawn directly from the aquarium by the Powerhead and forced down the riser stem and below the undergravel filter plate. (In conventional operation the water is pulled through the gravel and plate and up the riser stem.) The water then passes upward through the gravel layer-feeding and oxygenating vital bacteria colonies from below. The biological filter develops from the bottom up. This reverse flow helps to keep the substrate cleaner by keeping dirt and debris near the top layer so that it can be easily removed. Since the water is forced evenly through an unobstructed bottom place, there is much less possibility of "dead spots" to go anaerobic.
The Aqua Clear Powerhead is hermetically-sealed and completely submersible. It is insulated with highly effective epoxy resin to insulate against harsh freshwater and saltwater environments.
The powerhead has a variable flow control and a deflector plate that controls vertical output placement. It also has horizontal adjustment for maximum depth flexibility. The output stem rotates 175 degrees for maximum current control. The venturi aerating feature includes an air valve and 13" of airline tubing.
The Aqua Clear self-centering swivel stem adapter adjusts to undergravel filter stem positions from 3/4" to 1 1/8". The included hose connectors allow for quick and easy connections to protein skimmers, spray bars, and other accessories.
The convenient suction cups and attachment brackets with an adjustable clamp allow the Aqua Clear Powerhead to be mounted in most aquariums with either rim or glass mounts.
Size:
4 1/2" long x 2" wide x 4 1/4" high.
