Details

Beautiful two-toned African Mopani Wood makes an amazing addition to any tropical freshwater aquarium. Smooth surface and textured detail adds an awesome natural touch to any aquatic environment. The extremely dense hardwood structure sinks immediately and won't rot like driftwood, making it perfect for aquatic setups. Each piece has a unique shape, crafted by nature. This wood may release tannins into the water, creating a yellow or slightly brown tint. The tannins are natural compounds, and should not harm fish in freshwater environments, but soaking the wood before introducing it to your tank may help to minimize the tint. Sandblasted clean and ready to add to your tank.

Measures approx. 6 in. to 8 in. long. Mopani wood is natural and size and shape will vary.

Acceptable

It was chunkier than I had expected, but on the plus side one piece had a nice light tan color.

OK + well done

One really has to select their own look as far as decorations go but I find very little decent driftwood locally. The price seemed reasonable so I ordered two. The fine people at TFP were kind (wise?) enough to send me different length pieces and the only issue was not being able to select it myself. I guess I better plan a trip down that way this summer!

I soaked the one large peice I had for weeks. I changed the water daily and could never get the tannins out. I added it to the aquarium hoping the filter would help to remove what was left ot the color and my aquarium water looked like tea. I love the look of the wood and have used it in a terrarium with some toads.
