Coralife Turbo Twist UV Sterilizer - 6X - 18W

i purchased this product two or three monts ago, i waited to see what this unit was going to do.the hook up was easy, i put it in front of a marineland 350 filter. when i mounted the brackets, they were cheap plastic, for this size of unit, which is heavy,and big. i didn't call coralife, because i didn't want any more cheap bracket. the unit seems to work good.anyboby that can't make brackets for this unit, i would't buy it. the fish place/the pet place, i recommend, telling coralife, your not going to buy any more units till they make the mounting brackets better. i give the brackets a zero, and the unit four+

I did a fair amount of research on UV sterilizers before I decided to buy the Turbo Twist. The unit was very easy to assemble and install following the manufacturer's instructions. The screws that they provide are junk and they won't work with the mounting bracket, so don't waste time with them - the heads are too round and prevent the unit from locking in to the brackets as intended. Other than that installation was a snap. My tank is fairly new, so Icna't comment on the impact of the UV on my water quality yet.

THIS UNIT HAS BEEN ADDED TO MY 2.5 YR OLD REEF TANK. SO FAR SO GOOD - I DO SEE A BIT OF A DIFFERANCE, THE WATER IS CLEAR. IT'S ONLY BEEN RUNNING FOR 3 DAYS, I WILL POST ANOTHER REVIEW WHEN I HIT THE ONE MONTH MARK.

I have been fish keeping for 22 years. I bought my first 9watt turbo twist 11 years ago. It has worked flawlessly since then on my 72 gallon bow front, killing algae and ich. I recently upgraded my tank to a 180 gallon bow front and bought the 18 watt turbo twist. First imprssion was that the quality had gone down, the plastic is thinner and mounting brackets would not work with supplied screws. On first use it started leaking into the bulb housing and out of the ballast cap. The plastic at the top of the crystal was cracked. The return process was easy with thatfishplace, and they gave a full refund. I have ordered another and hope that it doesn't leak because uv sterilization of aquarium water is key to maintaining clean water and healthy fish.

I got this one for Christmas. I've never had a UV Sterilizer but, but so far I like it. But what I'd really like to know is if That Fish Place sells replacement bulbs. And if not, why not?

Be prepared to have bigger tubing on hand! Also a pump or powerhead for it. It's pretty big - can hang on tank but looks hideous! So have a hideout place planned for it!

I think that this product is, cheap the mounts broke within a month, tubing connectors were difficult to afix the tubing, while attempting to remount, the tubing became loose and disconnected, this caused a big water mess, on top of all that no real change in water quality...out $180 bucks.
