Instructions
Directions for Use: For cats and kittens 6 weeks of age and older. Not intended for kittens younger than 6 weeks.
Elanco Tapeworm Dewormer (praziquantel tablets) is used to remove common tapeworms from cats and kittens, including Dipylidium caninum and Taenia taeniaeformis. The product is intended for cats and kittens that are at least 6 weeks old.
The tablets can be given directly by mouth or crushed and mixed with food.
The recommended dose is based on body weight: cats weighing 4 pounds or less should receive one-half tablet, cats weighing 5 to 11 pounds should receive one tablet, and cats weighing over 11 pounds should receive one and one-half tablets.
Fasting is not necessary and is not recommended before treatment. One treatment is often sufficient; however, because tapeworms are commonly spread through fleas and rodents, it is important to control these sources of reinfection. If fleas or rodents remain present, retreatment may be necessary if tapeworms return. Rare side effects such as temporary drooling or diarrhea have been reported. If these signs persist after treatment, contact your veterinarian
