Ingredients

Ingredients:
Nitrifier bacteria, 40%
Water, 60%
Sodium bicarbonate, 1%
Preservative, less than 1%

Instructions

Shake well before using. For optimum nitrification and ammonia removal, first treat your aquarium with MICROBE-LIFT/Special Blend, with select cultures to reduce organic levels that may inhibit the natural nitrifications process. Because nitrification requires adequate levels of alkalinity, check the aquarium water's pH level. Saltwater slows down bacterial action. For faster results add 25%-50% more product.

New Tanks: Add 1 tsp. (5 mL.) per 10 gal. (38 L.), every other day, until Ammonia level is acceptable. Established Tanks: Add 1 tsp. (5 mL.) per 10 gal. (38 L.) of tank water after every partial water change as well as every time new fish are added to the tank. NOTE: Shelf life is 18 months. DON'T FREEZE. Store at room temperature. Avoid sunlight. Refrigerate 38°F (4°C) - 45°F (7°C) after opening to prolong shelf life.

Instructions don't seem right, cap is a struggle

by

I followed the instructions on the bottle when starting a new aquarium, and the second day's water test showed around 0.15 ppm ammonia. That doesn't compare well with the previous bacteria product I used, which kept the ammonia at 0 ppm for around ten days. I don't know if the bacteria in Nite Out II is less effective, or if the suggested dose is too low.

Apparently, the bottle I received (black) has a new design from the white bottle shown at the time I'm posting this. I don't usually have trouble with push-down childproof caps, but this one is the worst I've used. I have to push it down so hard that it skips down on the threads and restarts the struggle.

I'm going back to the bacterial product I used to use. I find Nite Out II so unsatisfactory that I probably won't even bother finishing the bottle.
