Pretty good for the price

Just started using this in a 40G tank with 2 young RES. The tank is filled about halfway. Second week it's running and I've already rinsed the sponge a couple of times and replaced carbon portion, but turtles are VERY messy, so I expected that. The water IS pretty clean, and the filter is very easy to set up, with strong suction cups so you can place along the bottom of the tank or on the side. Also nice that you can adjust the spray bar with it's very strong current! Seems to be well made and does run quietly. Be sure to order replacement media, too!

Works for my purposes and didn't cost a fortune!

I use it in my Eastern Painted turtle's tank to keep her water clean. Her tank is 5' long. I'm glad I got it.

Bought one of these as additional filter in sump for marine aquarium. Tried using the spray bar and the end cap kept coming off causing water to spray forcefully out of end. Used another small attachment which was provided and it seemed to be doing an O.K. job. Decided to clean it and did so and replaced in sump. About an hour later it started emitting a loud noise. Pulled it out and have discarded it. It is a pretty cheap unit and the bottom section attaches to top section by snapping on and the connection is not tight. I think most of these plastic contraptions ( in tank and power filters are pretty much a cheap product no matter who the manufacturer is and their longevity is very short. A pity.
