Neocirrhites armatus "Flame Hawkfish"
The Flame Hawkfish has a bright red body with a black stripe down the dorsal side and a little bit of black behind the eyes.
Though reef safe, Hawkfish can be aggressive toward tank mates and will eat crabs, shrimp, and other crustaceans. Hawkfish do not directly eat or damage corals, but they lack the swim bladder of most fish and spend most of their time perching on a surface, waiting for their next meal. This may damage or irritate some corals.
A good diet for these fish consists of meaty frozen or prepared foods like brine shrimp, pellets, or small bits of foods like shrimp, scallop or squid. At its larger, adult size, the Flame Hawkfish may also be given a very occasional live treat like ghost shrimp or feeder fish.
