Details
Although called the Blue Acara, this fish is actually more silvery-green, with pearly white markings along the body and face. They have an indistinct black horizontal stripe on their flanks. Males have an adorned dorsal fin, edged in orange-red, and flecked with iridescent blue. The "Electric Blue Acara" is a variant bred for especially bright blue coloration rather than the natural silvery greenish blue.
This cichlid is somewhat peaceful, except while spawning. Keep them in pairs with other docile fish that will not be aggressive towards the Acara. Provide them with plenty of caves and shelter. This fish will not dig or move things around, so plants are safe as well. Feed them a variety of foods like meaty frozen treats, flake and pellet.
