The Deepwater Gorgonian (Diodogorgia nodulifera) is one of the hardiest gorgonians on the market. It is found in the Caribbean and has two main color variations - Yellow and Red. The Yellow Deepwater Gorgonians are bright yellow with red calyces and white polyps when emerged. The Red Deepwater Gorgonians are dark red with white polyps.
These gorgonians are filter feeders and need good water flow and frequent invert feedings. They can be "target fed" with a turkey baster or large feeding syringe filled with food when the polyps are emerged. They do not require light to grow and can be place in low light aquariums or in sheltered areas of a brighter tank. If in high light, take care that the gorgonian does not become overgrown with algae and unable to feed.
