Like its name suggests, the Blue-legged Golden Banded Coral Shrimp (Stenopus cyanoscelis) has purple-blue legs and a golden yellow body. The body and claws also have dark reddish bands. This is one of the least common Banded Coral Shrimp available in the aquarium trade.
The Banded Coral Shrimp is also known as the Boxing Shrimp for their large claws that they will use to defend "their" area of the tank. They should be kept singly or in sexed pairs in aquaria as members of the same sex may kill each other.
Banded Coral Shrimp are primarily nocturnal and spend light hours in dim areas, usually on the undersides of rocks. Banded Coral Shrimp readily accept meaty frozen foods but will also scavenge in the aquarium in search of leftover flake and pellet food.
